What Are All-on-X Dentures?

If you’re missing most or all of your teeth, All-on-X dentures are a permanent, implant-supported solution that can restore your smile in a way that feels both comfortable and natural. Using only four dental implants per arch, these dentures securely attach to your jaw, providing a stable, long-lasting alternative to traditional dentures. At CarolinasDentist, we offer this advanced procedure across our locations in North Carolina, helping patients regain both functionality and confidence in their smiles.

The Benefits of All-on-X Dentures

All-on-X dentures are designed to provide several distinct advantages over traditional removable dentures. Here’s why so many people are turning to this innovative treatment:

1. Enhanced Stability

Unlike traditional dentures, which can slip or shift, All-on-X dentures are anchored in place by four dental implants. This means you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence, without worrying about your dentures moving around.

2. Faster Results

Many patients are excited to learn that the All-on-X process can often be completed in just one day. That means you can leave the office with a new smile after just one procedure, compared to the multiple appointments often required for other treatments.

3. Preserving Bone Health

Dental implants aren’t just about securing dentures—they also help preserve the health of your jawbone. When you lose teeth, the bone in your jaw can start to deteriorate. Implants stimulate the bone, helping to maintain its density and strength. This can also prevent that sunken appearance in the face that can come with bone loss.

4. Long-Term Solution

All-on-X dentures are designed to last for many years, offering a durable and low-maintenance solution for tooth loss. With proper care, these implants can last a lifetime. They can give you the freedom to enjoy a healthy smile for the long haul.

How Does the All-on-X Process Work?

The All-on-X procedure typically begins with a consultation where your dentist will evaluate your oral health and determine if you’re a good candidate for the treatment. If so, the procedure itself involves the placement of four implants into your jawbone, which act as secure anchors for your new set of dentures.

In many cases, temporary dentures can be placed immediately after the implants are inserted, allowing you to leave the office with a functional smile. After a healing period of several months, during which the implants will fuse with your jawbone, you’ll return to have your permanent dentures fitted. These custom-made dentures will look and feel like natural teeth, giving you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile without hesitation.

Are All-on-X Dentures Right for You?

All-on-X dentures can be a great solution for patients who have lost multiple teeth or an entire arch of teeth. Even if you’ve experienced some bone loss in your jaw, you may still be a candidate for this procedure. In some cases, a bone graft may be recommended to strengthen the jawbone for implant placement.

This treatment is ideal for anyone seeking a more secure, natural-feeling alternative to removable dentures. The All-on-X system is also beneficial for patients looking to avoid the more extensive surgery and higher cost of placing individual implants for each missing tooth.
