Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment because they can fix a wide range of things when it comes to how your teeth look. They can be used to make teeth longer, cover severe discoloration, fix minor spacing issues, restore worn-down teeth, and more! Essentially, they are super-thin shells that bond to the front of your teeth. Dental veneers blend seamlessly with your natural teeth and are extremely durable (they can last up to 20 years with proper care!). Dental veneers are the perfect fit to design the smile you’ve always wanted.

Dental Veneers FAQs

Do dental veneers damage your teeth?

At CarolinasDentist, we utilize state-of-the-art dental tools and technology to apply dental veneers. However, not everyone has teeth suitable for veneers, so we will determine if you are a good candidate before scheduling the procedure. If you are a good candidate, we will explain the dental veneer process, including removing a small amount of enamel, which can’t be reversed. With proper care and maintenance, veneers can last many years without causing harm.

Can dental veneers be removed?

Placing dental veneers is considered an irreversible procedure. Although there are times when patients need or desire to have veneers removed, it is a delicate process. Removing veneers may involve grinding them down or using special tools to detach them from the teeth. After removal, the teeth might be slightly sensitive, and alternative treatments may be needed.

How long do dental veneers last?

The lifespan of dental veneers varies depending on factors like their material and how well they are cared for. Generally, porcelain veneers can last 10 to 15 years, and composite resin veneers need to be replaced sooner. Regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene, using a mouthguard, and avoiding habits like teeth grinding can help extend the longevity of veneers.

Do dental veneers stain?

Dental veneers don’t stain the same way natural teeth do. They are generally resistant to staining due to their porcelain or composite material. However, poor oral hygiene, smoking, or consuming staining substances like coffee or wine can discolor them over time. Regular brushing, flossing, and avoiding such habits can help maintain the veneers’ appearance.

Why would you put veneers on teeth?

If you’re conscious of the appearance of your teeth and would like to improve their appearance, dental veneers may be the best solution. They can conceal stains, discoloration, chips, or gaps, creating a more uniform and attractive smile. Additionally, veneers can enhance tooth shape and size, providing a natural-looking solution for a confident and aesthetically pleasing smile. Our team at CarolinasDentist has years of experience performing this popular cosmetic procedure.
