Routine Dental Cleanings in North Carolina

Book Your Next Dental Cleaning with CarolinasDentist

It may surprise you to learn that it only takes 24 hours for plaque that has not been removed from your teeth to turn into calculus (tartar). Although that is not what anyone wants to hear, those daily home cleanings do help control plaque and tartar formation, but those hard-to-reach areas will always need special attention. At CarolinasDentist, our well-trained team is here to help you keep that bright beautiful smile!

Once your initial periodontal treatment is complete, your dentist and hygienist will recommend regular maintenance cleanings (periodontal cleanings), usually four times a year. During these cleaning visits, the pocket depths will be carefully checked to ensure that they are healthy. Plaque and calculus that are difficult for you to remove daily will be removed from above and below the gum line.

The Benefits of Routine Cleaning

Weโ€™ll meet with you to craft your personalized preventive oral health program. This step saves you time, stress and money by utilizing preventive maintenance care to keep problems from occurring or to stop them in their tracks altogether. Our variety of oral hygiene services will keep your teeth and gums healthy and limit your risk of future problems.

Our Routine Dental Exams & Cleanings

Itโ€™s said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is truly the case when it comes to your oral health. Even if you donโ€™t have any pressing dental concerns, you should still visit our dental team for a professional teeth cleaning and exam every six months so we can make sure everything is in tip-top shape. That way we can deal with problems (like cavities and gum disease) while theyโ€™re still small.

During these dental clinic visits, we evaluate your overall oral health; take X-rays to detect issues; remove stains, plaque, and tartar; polish your teeth; and provide an oral cancer screening. We use an ultrasonic scaler that sprays away debris from teeth, which is a big improvement upon the uncomfortable scraping of traditional tools. We are also happy to give you pointers for at-home oral care.

Our Fluoride Treatment Works for You

Fluoride is a highly effective agent in preventing tooth decay. It is a natural mineral that strengthens teeth against acid and decay, and youโ€™re probably most familiar with it via toothpaste. But itโ€™s also present in most citiesโ€™ water supplies. Some people at a high-risk for cavities, or who have a fluoride deficiency, may require a bit more to help maintain a healthy smile. If your teeth need a boost in protection, we can topically apply fluoride to them in a simple, quick procedure.

Donโ€™t Overlook Tooth Decay Prevention

Tooth decay is something many people donโ€™t realize they have until their dentist breaks the bad news or a painful infection occurs. When decay is left untreated, it can result in a toothache, gum swelling, bad breath, and even tooth discoloration.

To better fight tooth decay, you should keep up with your regular dental office visits and practice good oral hygiene at home. At CarolinasDentist, we use the state-of-the-art CariFree device to detect cavities as early as possible. If youโ€™re diagnosed with tooth decay, we can determine the best treatment for you. Otherwise, our dentists can discuss best practices for tooth decay prevention.

I had an emergency come up with a broken tooth that needed removed. I was squeezed into the schedule on the same day as when I called to get seen and to get started on some antibiotics prior to removal. I went back today and had my tooth removed and everything went GREAT! My appointment was at 10 and I was back in my car and heading home by 10:30. It was so fast and I had zero pain during the procedure. Theyโ€™re wonderful here & Iโ€™ve definitely found my new dental office!

My dentist and her technician were kind, thoughtful and compassionate. My dentist offered me options in repairing two of my teeth before a big vacation. My nerves were so frazzled on that day, so they worked hard to keep me comfortable. My experience was great and I plan to recommend them to anyone looking for a good dental team.

Today is my first visit with CarolinasDentist and my experience was awesome. Iโ€™ve not seen a dentist for quite some time. So, I was a little nervous. Dr. Daniel Woods and his assistant, Fawn did a beautiful job helping me to relax before and during my root canal and crown procedures. They were very professional and kind every step of the way. Cannot thank them enough. Iโ€™m already highly recommending them to family and friends.
